WHAT EDIMOTION IS ABOUT

Edimotion is the oldest film festival in the world that focuses exclusively on the art of film editing. Since 2001 it offers the German speaking editing and post production industry an annual event as a platform for presentation and discussion. Since 2012 it has expanded its outreach to international editors all over the globe.

Edimotion honors outstanding works of film editors: The Editing Awards (“Schnitt Preise”), for the best editing of a German, Austrian or Swiss cinema film, fictional or documentary. The Young Talent Award (“Förderpreis Schnitt”) is given to the best editor of a German, Austrian or Swiss short film of up to 20 minutes duration.

Edimotion pays tribute to the life’s work of a well-deserved film editor: Each year we have a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient and present examples from their oeuvre, offering the audience the possibility of an exchange about the specific style of their work.

Edimotion propels the dialogue between filmmakers and with the audience: Each year, panel discussions, workshops and lectures are dedicated to a special topic, aiming at reflecting both theory and practice of film editing.

Edimotion is international: Inviting guests from all over the world and dedicating a special evening event to a Guest Country each year, we are placing the country's editors’ association as well as the work of one of their leading film editors at the center of attention. And in the International Film Editors Forum (IFEF), we connect editors from all over the world in an intensive 5-hour networking event.
