Edimotion Academy AI Hackathon
With its first-ever AI hackathon, Edimotion enabled a 15-strong team of editors, freelancers and representatives from renowned production companies – including The Edit Space, btf, Act, Wave in Motion and Warner Bros. – to take part in a forward-looking experiment, providing fresh impetus for editing work using AI technologies. The Edimotion AI Hackathon focused on hands-on experimentation, breaking down barriers to adoption, and discussing the opportunities and limitations of AI in film editing. In just six hours, three original short films were created, which were presented at the festival. The films can now also be viewed on our website.

Patricia Rommel
On 27 October 2025, Patricia Rommel was awarded the Edimotion Honorary Editing Prize for her life’s work at the awards ceremony. With a filmography comprising over 50 works, Patricia Rommel is one of the most influential editors in German and international cinema. Collaborations with directors such as Caroline Link, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, Stefan Tolz, Wolfgang Becker, Romuald Karmakar, Asli Özge and Angelina Jolie demonstrate Patricia Rommel’s versatility and her significant artistic influence over the past decades. Director Caroline Link was a guest at the opening ceremony to honour Patricia Rommel.
